Tips for your visit
Enjoy Saint Jean-Saint Etienne cathedral
Besançon's Saint Jean Saint Etienne cathedral is a church, a basilica and a Carolingian cathedral, built in the 3rd century and rebuilt several times. It therefore includes Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architecture. The building is one of the few in France to feature two opposing apses, consisting of a Romanesque choir and a richly ornate 18th-century counter-choir.
Admission to the cathedral is free.
